Joliet, Ill. - July 8, 2019 - For the second week in a row, a Joliet General has won the MCL Player of the Week award. This morning, the Midwest Collegiate League tabbed Generals first and third baseman Will Krushena (Denison University / Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) for Player of the Week honors. Last week, Generals infielder Danny Borgstrom (University of Evansville / Morris, Ill.) won the award. Krushena is joined by Panther pitcher Eddie Wilkins, who won Pitcher of the Week.

From the League Office:

“Krushena had a phenomenal week at the plate, posting a .526 batting average while notching ten hits and ten RBIs. Five of Krushena’s hits went for extra-bases, including a three-run home run that was part of a six-RBI performance against the Bloomington Bobcats on Friday, July 5 that helped his team secure a 15-14 victory.”

Krushena’s six RBIs against the Bobcats set a new franchise record. At the end of June, Krushena was batting under .300 on the summer. Less than ten days into July, he’s raised his average to .377. Krushena also leads the team with 22 RBIs, a figure that places him third in the MCL. Up next, the Generals play on Wednesday against the Hounds at Wayne King Field. The game will be broadcasted on the Joliet Generals Broadcasting Network.
