Joliet, Ill. - July 2, 2019 - This morning, the Midwest Collegiate League named Generals infielder Danny Borgstrom (University of Evansville / Morris, Ill.) MCL Player of the Week. Borgstrom becomes the second Joliet player this season to grab Player or Pitcher of the Week honors. Last week, Generals right hander Jake Ostrowski (Joliet JC / Lockport, Ill.) had the honors on the pitching side. Borgstrom is joined by Justin Rios of the Vikings, who won Pitcher of the Week.

From the League Office:

“Borgstrom had an impressive week at the plate, posting a .570 batting average, .643 on-base percentage, and five RBIs. Four of Borgstrom’s eight hits went for extra-bases, including a two-run home run against the Crestwood Panthers on Saturday, June 29 that helped his team secure a 16-6 victory.”

On the season, Borgstrom is batting an impressive .421 with an OPS of 1.177. He is tied for the team lead in hits and extra base hits. The Generals play one more time before the Fourth of July on Wednesday against the Hounds at Wayne King Field. The game will be broadcasted on the Joliet Generals Broadcasting Network.
